Who is a candidate?
Earlobe repair is a minor facial plastic surgery procedure that can correct a variety of cosmetic issues for men and women. You may be a candidate for earlobe repair if you have:
- Stretched earlobes
- Tears from earrings being pulled
- Elongated holes in the ears from wearing heavy earrings
- Keloid scars that developed with piercings
How is earlobe repair performed?
During your consultation, Dr. Hynes will examine your ears and determine the best surgical approach. Earlobe repair is a quick and simple cosmetic procedure that is performed under local anesthesia at our office in Hamilton, ON. After the earlobe is numbed, incisions are placed with care, and repairs are performed and closed with sutures. At Lotus Cosmetic Surgery Centre + Medispa, earlobe repair procedures are tailored to the individual needs of the patient and generally take less than an hour to complete.
What is the recovery period like?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised and the speed and comfort of the recovery process after earlobe repair or reduction. Pain medication may be needed for the first day or two, but discomfort is relatively minimal after this process. You should be able to resume your activities within a few days, although rigorous exercise will likely be restricted for longer to give the ears ample time for complete healing.
What are the risks?
Earlobe repair is a quick and simple cosmetic procedure, however, anytime the skin is cut in a surgical procedure, there are certain risks. The risks of having earlobe surgery performed could include bleeding, infection, pain, and/or scarring. If you choose to pierce your ears after your surgery, that can usually be done after about two months.
